Topic Research, Epics of India Food

Image
For my Topic I decided to do food. I think there is so much potential with food and there is so much I could talk about.  https://www.diigo.com/profile/laurakgibbs?query=%23100blog+ganesha The first story I will choose to do is "Kubera and Ganesha", I believe this will be a good story for me because it talks about how much Ganesha eats and how much food he loves. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/food-news/what-is-lord-ganeshas-favourite-food/articleshow/70900989.cms I believe that this article/story about Ganesha would help me because it informs me about his favorite sweets and talks about a holiday/festival I could talk about. https://livingfoodz.com/stories/celebrating-the-first-foodie-on-ganesh-chaturthi-1070 In this, it talks about Ganpati and his love for desserts but also includes festivals that I can talk about in my storybook. I think it will be a great informative story that I could use to talk about. All of these stories/articles are going to be very h

The King forced men to go out to the lake to catch this, out of ordinary, species. When the men brought the Turtle back, the King wanted these men to kill it because only fish were supposed to be in the water. As they went around the room and talked about killing the animal, the Turtle pokes it's head out and says, "what have I done to you humans for you guys to want to do something to hurt me and hurt my life? Topic Brainstorm

Image
Rama Rama is a possible topic that I think I might want to research more about for my project. I know what reincarnation is but I would like to learn more and possibly write a story about it and come up with my own ideas. I know it is very big in some countries and religions but learning more about it would be very interesting to me. One project idea I have is writing about Rama and the things he went through as a person, I'm not exactly sure how I would do it yet, but it is something that catches my eye since I am already reading Ramayana.  https://sites.google.com/site/lordramastorybook/home This past storybook really catches my eye and is something I would enjoy doing about "Rama, the greatest football player ever." Food Food is an idea I have for my project. I really enjoy food and I feel as if most people do as well especially food that I have never had or heard of in my life. Learning about new foods would be really interesting to me because I don't know anythin

Feedback Strategies

"How to Give Bad Feedback Without Being a Jerk" by Adam Grant  https://heleo.com/adam-grant-give-bad-feedback-without-jerk/8968/ While reading this article, the main things that stood out were the 4 things to do about giving negative feedback without being rude. The first thing was explain why you're giving the feedback. If you don't want to seem like you're being rude, saying mean things, then basically it says to explain why you are doing that. For example, a good example of giving negative feedback but in a good way is,  “I’m giving you these comments because I have very high expectations and I know that you can reach them." The second thing was Taking yourself off a pedestal and basically, letting whoever knows that you are trying your best to be the best you can be. The last 2 things were, 'Ask if the person wants feedback', and 'Have a transparent dialogue, not a manipulative monologue.' I believe these 4 main things are perfect to under

Story of 2 animals running from this broken earth, Week 3

Image
One early morning, this squirrel was running around a group of real life humans, having the time of his life when all of a sudden something scary to the squirrel happened. These humans decided that it would be funny to antagonize the little creature. They decided to throw acorns around him, and everyone knows squirrels love acorns, but it came at the little guy so fast, he got super worried. The squirrel decides to run off, on his run, he runs into a cat. (I know squirrels and cats don;'t like eachother, but this story is a little different). The cat starts following the squirrel, and is scared for it's life, but then the cat gentle meows at the squirrel, and they start running away from the humans. The cat and the squirrel had the time of their lives, but the cat was confused where it was running from. So they both run back and creep by the humans without them seeing the 2. They see that they are just being kids and run away. The two fall in love and live happily ever after.

Reading Notes, Ramayana, Part A

Image
http://iereadingguides.blogspot.com/2015/05/week-1-of-2-narayans-ramayana-reading.html  The Ramayana written by R.K . Narayan is a shortened modern version of Indian Epics. The author starts off by introducing the city of Ayodhya where the king is Dasharatha in the kingdom of Koshala. The king has no children and for some reason, according to Narayan, is a problem. God, Vishnu, becomes Dasaratha's son, who's name is Rama.  - Vishvamitra gets to the kings, Dasharatha, court and takes Rama to fight demons. - Vishvamitra takes boys to a desert region which is ran by Thataka, used to be yaksha, a type of god. - Rama does battle and kills Thataka. - Thataka's sons seek revenge for her death from Rama, but they defeat them. - Aswamedha, allows a king to expand his kingdom... makes the gods worried - Sakara performed this and the god Indra stole it. - Traveling to Mithila, dust from Rama's feet falls and Ahalya appears.. she was imprisioned in the stone until released by Rama

Feedback Thoughts

Image
https://hbr.org/2016/12/silence-the-critical-voices-in-your-head "Silence the Critical Voices in Your Head" This was the first article I chose to read and I thought it was a good one, especially because I have dealt with this in the past of just negative thoughts that go on in my head. Whether it be for a specific reason or it is just there because. I enjoyed the 4 steps Rejeev went through to turn "negativity into productivity". The four steps is a good process and I'm sure could help a ton of people out there. The four steps of this are, 'Look for the positive', 'Hear the Positive', 'Dig in to understand the positive', and last but not least 'Believe the positive, and act as if it was true'. Although Rajeev didn't enjoy hearing the feedback, it was mainly the tone of voice and different phrases from co workers comments that stuck with him, but this 4 process rule, helps him get through it. " Make it a daily practice to

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

Image
https://sites.google.com/view/jatakas/rabbit The reading that I most enjoyed was called "The Foolish, Timid Rabbit" by Ellen C. Babbitt. I really love animals and this reading was very interesting to me for many reasons. This reading made me excited about possibly doing my own about the Rabbit and all of the other animals but maybe changing it where 2 animals who are running from this "broken earth" fall in love or something. Here's a little break down in bullet points of what happened in this reading: 1. Rabbit thinks to himself, oh what if the earth is breaking, something falls and the Rabbit thinks it is so takes off running. 2. Lots and lots of Rabbits follow him on this journey of running from the breaking earth because he told all the other Rabbits that he/she witnessed it first hand. 3. As they were running, the Rabbits pass by a Deer, a Fox, and an Elephant. All of these animals join on the journey of running as far as they can to get away. 4. Lion see

Week 2 Reading Overview

Image
The Ramayana I have chose is option 2, Public Domain Edition. I chose this one because it is an anthology version and I had never heard of that until now but it sounds interesting. I like how in anthology, there are many different poems and pieces of writings from you to look at and read. I also enjoy that there are 4 different sections of each reading, like A, B, C, and D for example for you to read and understand what is going on. I'm interested in learning how this collection of writings is shown since I have never heard of it or seen anything like this before looking at today's reading assignment. http://ackguide.blogspot.com/2015/05/guide-kubera.html The first comic book that caught my eye was "Kubera: The Lord of Wealth". As you know, I am a finance major and I've always enjoyed messing around with money and understanding where it comes from so this is one reason this caught my eye, just to realize how he became the Lord. Also, It interested me about the st
