The Ramayana written by R.K . Narayan is a shortened modern version of Indian Epics. The author starts off by introducing the city of Ayodhya where the king is Dasharatha in the kingdom of Koshala. The king has no children and for some reason, according to Narayan, is a problem. God, Vishnu, becomes Dasaratha's son, who's name is Rama.

- Vishvamitra gets to the kings, Dasharatha, court and takes Rama to fight demons.

- Vishvamitra takes boys to a desert region which is ran by Thataka, used to be yaksha, a type of god.

- Rama does battle and kills Thataka.

- Thataka's sons seek revenge for her death from Rama, but they defeat them.

- Aswamedha, allows a king to expand his kingdom... makes the gods worried

- Sakara performed this and the god Indra stole it.

- Traveling to Mithila, dust from Rama's feet falls and Ahalya appears.. she was imprisioned in the stone until released by Rama

- Brahma, the god, created Ahalya and gave permission for Gautama to be his wife.

- "Indra wanted to sleep with Ahalya, so he disguised himself as her husband. Gautama found them in bed together and was furious. He turned his wife into a stone, and he made it so that Indra was covered with female genitalia. He later relented and turned the genitalia into eyes, so that Indra is the "thousand-eyed god." I thought this quote was interesting.
